Rainy Check - Privacy Policy
Last updated: 31 August 2026
Rainy Check is a weather app that sends you one notification on mornings it is forecast to rain in your area. This policy explains what it does with your information. The short version: it uses your approximate location to look up the local forecast, and nothing else.
Information the app uses
Approximate location. When you grant permission, Rainy Check reads your device location once per check and immediately rounds it to roughly a one-kilometre grid. It does not read or store your precise location.
The rounded location is sent to Apple’s Weather service (WeatherKit) and Apple’s geocoding service to retrieve the forecast for your area and the name of your town or city. This happens on your device, over a secure connection. Apple’s handling of that data is governed by the Apple Weather privacy policy and the Apple Privacy Policy. Apple states that location data sent to WeatherKit is not associated with your Apple ID and is not used to track you.
Rainy Check has no servers of its own. Your location is not sent to the developer, is not stored anywhere after the forecast is retrieved, and is never sold or shared with anyone.
Information the app does not collect
Rainy Check has no account or sign-in. It contains no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking software. It uses no artificial intelligence or machine-learning service and sends your data to no processor other than Apple’s Weather and geocoding services described above. It does not collect your name, email, contacts, device identifiers, or usage data, and it does not track you across other apps or websites.
Your data and your choices
Because Rainy Check keeps nothing about you on any server, there is no account to close and no personal data for anyone to hand back or erase. Deleting the app removes the cached forecast and the rounded location from your device. You can revoke location or notification permission at any time in the iOS Settings app; the app keeps working with reduced function.
Notifications
Notifications are scheduled locally on your device by iOS. No push server is involved. You can turn them off at any time in the iOS Settings app.
Data stored on your device
The app keeps your most recent forecast and your rounded location on the device so the widget and the main screen have something to show when offline. This data never leaves your device except as described above.
Children
Rainy Check is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
